George Raymond Richard Martin was born in 1948 in New Jersey. His bestselling epic A Song of Ice and Fire was adapted into the critically acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones. In 2022, the HBO blockbuster House of the Dragon followed, based on his work Fire and Blood. Martin has been awarded the Hugo Award six times, the Nebula Award twice, the World Fantasy Award three times (including a lifetime achievement award), and the Locus Award fifteen times. In 2013, he won first place in the German Fantasy Prize for Best International Novel. He currently lives in New Mexico with his wife.
