The best non-fiction books of the year on the Blue Sofa: On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the nominees for the German Non-Fiction Prize will be guests in Berlin. The authors will talk to our hosts Christiane Wirtz and Jens-Christian Rabe about the topics that move our society.
The German Non-Fiction Prize is awarded by the Stiftung Buchkultur und Leseförderung des Börsenvereins des Deutschen Buchhandels to the non-fiction book of the year. The prize is awarded to outstanding non-fiction books in original German-language editions that provide an impetus for social debate.
The German Non-Fiction Prize is intended to raise awareness of non-fiction books as a basis for knowledge transfer, sound opinion-forming and as a source of inspiration for public discourse.
The nominees for the German Non-Fiction Prize 2026 will be announced on April 21.
