Anja Jonuleit, born in Bonn in 1965 and raised on Lake Constance, worked for the German Embassy in Rome for several years. After a secondment to the embassy in Damascus, she studied Italian and English at Munich’s Institute for Language and Information Processing. Back at Lake Constance, she worked as a freelance translator and court interpreter before devoting herself entirely to writing.
Her earlier novels – including „Der Apfelsammler“ (The Apple Picker, 2017), „Rabenfrauen" (Raven Women, 2018) „Herbstvergessene" (Autumn Forgotten, 2019) and „Das letzte Bild" (The Last Picture, 2023) – were followed by „Kaiserwald" (Imperial Forest, 2024) the first book in a sweeping family saga. Book two, „Sonnenwende"(Solstice), will be published in fall 2024.
