Born in 1970, Christiane Wirtz studied law in Berlin. She worked as a journalist for Süddeutsche Zeitung and Deutschlandfunk. As a freelance journalist, she spent a year in Tel Aviv. From 2014–2016, she was the deputy spokesperson for the German federal government, then moved to the Ministry of Justice as a state secretary. Since 2020, she has returned to working as a freelance journalist and author. She lives in Berlin.
