Ninotchka Rosca

Born and raised in the Philippines, Ninotchka Rosca has spent many decades traveling the world. Her two novels, »State of War« and »Twice Blessed«, are viewed as classics of Philippine literature. Both were first published in the US after Rosca was compelled to go into exile during the Marcos Dictatorship. »Twice Blessed« was conferred the American Book Award upon its release. »State of War« has been translated into German and Flemish.

Aside from her novels, Rosca is proficient in many genres: journalistic pieces, essays, political analyses, poetry, and short stories – for which she received numerous awards. She was the first Philippine author to write a cover story for the US-American Ms. Magazine.

She is a staunch advocate of human and women's rights.
