Listening, having your voice heard and discussing on a level playing field – these are modern buzzwords and empty phrases in political rhetoric. But what does it mean to truly listen, question your own convictions, and open yourself up to another person’s worldview? Why haven’t we listened to victims of sexual abuse for so long, or warnings about climate change? Bernhard Pörksen reveals the mechanisms that prevent us from listening, both in private and public. He presents approaches and methods that help us open up, gain a deeper understanding and listen empathetically. The key question raised in his book is: how do you reach the people that are no longer reachable?
